A Weekend at Joe's - A Detective Bannon and Sergeant Ryan Short Story
The Mara Mysteries Additional

In between Skeletons in The Closet and The Lion’s Den is this little gem. Joe’s much anticipated do.

If you can’t get enough of Mark Bannon, Mick Ryan and all the colourful characters from the fictional town of Mara you can join them for a weekend of fun and laughter at Joe’s with a spot of shooting, a barbeque and an old fashioned outback country dance.

When Mick Ryan accepts Joe’s invitation to accompany Mark Bannon to ‘one of Joe’s do’s’, he expects a quiet country weekend. What he gets is a crash course in rural survival.

Friday night starts with a hunting trip getting kangaroos and rabbits for the dogs … confronting enough for a city bloke. But the real shock comes when Ryan discovers he’s not just sharing a room with Bannon … he’s sharing the bed. The only bed. A queen-size mattress that suddenly feels very, very small.

The weekend spirals into a relentless gauntlet of teasing, physical labour, and elaborate pranks orchestrated by Bannon and Joe. Every sore muscle comes with a side of mockery. Every mistake becomes ammunition for their next joke.

By Monday, Ryan faces a choice: prove he can take everything the country throws at him or flee back to the city with his dignity in tatters.
